One of New Zealand's largest collections of bonsai trees, drawing visitors from all over the world. Visits are by arrangement. A number of bonsai and craft workshops are also offered.

Meaning 'peaceful encampment' in Maori, Te Kainga Marire is an inner-city native garden that mimics New Zealand's natural environment. Situated in the New Plymouth valley, it is considered to be one of few private gardens of national significance by the prestigious RNZIH New Zealand Gardens Trust.
