Its largest urban centre, the vibrant city of Wellington, is New Zealand's capital and a significant cultural centre. As the country's political centre, Wellington houses Parliament and head offices for all government departments and ministries. It is also home to Te Papa Tongarewa the national museum of New Zealand and cultural institutions including the Royal New Zealand Ballet and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Its film industry is world renowned, due largely to filmmaker Peter Jackson's efforts in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which placed the city on the world stage as a film making centre and holiday destination.
